Location: Pacific slope of the southern zone of Costa Rica. Puntarenas province; Coto Brus county. Nearest town is San Vito, about 6 min. away; the neighborhood is Linda Vista. San Vito, founded in 1952 by Italian settlers and now the Coto Brus county seat, has a population of about 10,000 in a regional population of about 55,000. The town has all services one expects in a vibrant community. While predominantly rural, the area hosts an increasingly cosmopolitan community of permanent and part-time residents from North America and Europe. Las Cruces Biological Station/Wilson Botanical Garden, a center of scientific research and intellectual life of the community, is just 2.5 km away.

San Jose is about a 5-hour drive via either the coastal route ("costanera") or the mountain route. There is daily bus service from San Vito to San Jose. The nearest intra-national commercial airport is in Golfito about 1.25 hours away by taxi. An excellent airstrip outside San Vito was completely resurfaced last year but at present is used for private planes and charter service only. It is about a 1.5-hour drive to the nearest quality Pacific coast beaches.

Owner's house: The original small but charming one-floor cottage has been enlarged and remodeled as of July 2014 to be about a 140-sq meter/1500-sq ft house, and with 2 full bathrooms, a large master bedroom with walk-in closet, a small second bedroom (now being used as an office) and sitting room (or study), plus a beautifully remodeled kitchen (with granite sink area counter, side-by-side refrigerator, dishwasher, and loads of counter and storage space, including a pantry), an interior storage room with cabinets and shelves, and a laundry room. There is a counter/pass-through from the kitchen to the new living/dining room, and a 14-sq meter/150-sq foot covered terrace off the living room area with a view through a forested area to the lake/laguna. A new solar hot water system has been installed on the roof with back-up electric heater. As part of the remodeling, all electrical wiring was upgraded to current standards, and wiring for telephone, internet, satellite TV, alarm system, and stereo speaker systems installed to be integral to the structure of the house. The house is perfect for a couple or small family. There is a 2-car parking garage and a protected laundry drying area connecting to the owner's house. A clear plastic-covered greenhouse for a vegetable garden and nursery is located near the owner's house behind the garage.

Other buildings. A larger building near the main road is about 83-sq m/890-sq ft and houses the caretaker/groundsman's family and a small lending library and a commercially viable Central and South American crafts store owned and run by the current owners. The property also contains a large rancho (open-sided shelter) of about 35-sq m/380-sq ft ideal for entertaining, with an adjacent structure with bathrooms and shower. Three smaller ranchos are located at other special sites on the property for picnics, meetings and fiestas. There are also two small out-buildings or bodegas currently used for equipment storage and a shelter for drying and storing wood
